For hypnotherapy to be effective, it is essential that your child would like to change the problem situation. We would identify how they would prefer to think, feel and behave instead.
Participation of the parents in the process is important. A parent’s anxiety about the problem can often make change more difficult for the child. You may have to change the way you do some things as a family to support the changes your child wants to make.
I always recommend an initial session with the parent/s before starting to treat the child.
During the therapy part of the session your child will become very relaxed and focused with powerful positive suggestions being made via stories, adventures, meeting a character from a TV programme or computer game who advises them what to do.
Children are happy to take on these ideas to help them deal with the problem situation.
Hypnotherapy can help children and teenagers deal with many problem situations such as bed wetting, anxiety, low self esteem, hair pulling, thumb sucking, nightmares, anger, anxiety, food related problems, separation, confidence, education, exam and driving test nerves, changing school, concentrating, and relaxing.
You and your child must be willing to use the techniques between sessions.
If you are willing to do this, hypnotherapy may be just what you are looking for.
The number of sessions your child will require will depend on the nature of the problem, age of child and other factors.
Hypnosis can be used with young children however I only work with older children (around 10 plus) and teenagers.
Make the rest of your life the best of your life.
